The San Luis Norte farm has reached a milestone in the renewable energy sector by becoming the country’s first hybrid solar-wind project.
The first stage, exclusively wind power generation, was inaugurated in 2024, and in June of this year, the solar plant on the same site began commercial operation, a milestone that makes it the country’s first hybrid wind-solar park. The development was carried out by ArcelorMittal Acindar and PCR.
The solar park has 35,000 solar panels with trackers that allow them to orient themselves according to the direction of the sun and evacuate the energy generated through the existing infrastructure of the wind farm. Being hybrid, it can capture both wind and solar resources, reducing the intermittency characteristic of renewable energies. It has an installed capacity of 130.5 MW, equivalent to more than a third of the province’s energy consumption.
The farm covers 1,500 hectares in the town of Toro Negro, Belgrano department, San Luis province. The renewable energy generated by the San Luis Norte Farm is intended to supply ArcelorMittal Acindar’s industrial plants in the country with the aim of continuing to build a sustainable industry.
