Gerdau Inaugurates New Solar Energy Park in Minas Gerais

On June 5, Gerdau, in partnership with Newave Energia and XP Investimentos, inaugurated a new solar energy park in the state of Minas Gerais, one of the largest solar projects in the country.

With an investment of R$ 1.5 billion, the complex features 720,000 solar panels and an installed capacity of 420 megawatt-peak, enough to supply a city of 350,000 residents.

It is located 30 kilometers from downtown Arinos and covers an area of 822 hectares. In addition to creating 3,000 direct and indirect jobs in the region, it supports social initiatives focused on science and robotics education for the local community.

The inauguration was attended by representatives of the national government, as well as leaders of the companies behind the project.

The new solar park actively contributes to reducing CO2 emissions and reinforces the Latin American steel industry’s commitment to the energy transition.
