Novacero commissioned Ecuador’s largest private photovoltaic generation system for its plant in Guayaquil. This project will contribute to national energy efficiency and reduce the carbon footprint.
The solar plant is installed on the roofs of its warehouses and covers an area of 34,000 m2, which is slightly more than four football fields. With 7,002 panels and an installed capacity of 4.23 MWp, it will generate 90% of the energy needed to operate its plant on a daily basis, which it currently consumes from the national grid.
“This new private photovoltaic generation system for self-consumption will significantly reduce our dependence on the public electricity grid, benefiting Ecuadorian society. We are already green steel manufacturers, and now we will also be clean energy generators,” said Ramiro Garzón, General Manager of Novacero.
