Siderperú published its 2024 Sustainability Report, which reflects the company’s achievements and challenges in terms of sustainability, following GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) standards.
Among the milestones of 2024 is the Solar Plant with more than 900 photovoltaic panels, which generated 744,413 kWh of energy and reduced 159 tons of CO2, equivalent to planting 7,200 trees in one year. Likewise, 70 million liters of water were saved in the production process, equivalent to more than 25 Olympic swimming pools, achieving a water efficiency of around 98% reuse.
On the road to a sustainable and efficient industry, CO2 emissions intensity was 85% less than the global average in the steel industry.
In addition, the first Scrap Recycling Center was inaugurated in Yura, Arequipa, strengthening the company’s presence in the south of the country and bringing the “Metal Recyclers Program” to the region, a specialized training initiative for local recyclers, within the framework of the circular economy.
Siderperú is Peru’s leading steel company and also the first to become a Certified B Corporation, reaffirming its sustainable vision and the Latin American steel industry’s commitment to more efficient processes and cleaner technologies.
