With the aim of promoting and expanding the use of steel in construction, Alacero launches the 19th edition of the #DesafíoAlacero, a steel design contest for architecture students across Latin America.
In 2026, teams will be required to develop an architectural project in steel that contributes to achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, promoting solutions that integrate innovation, sustainability, and the efficient use of steel in construction.
The local organization in each country (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic) invites architecture schools/faculties to participate in the competition. The winning preliminary projects from the national stages will compete against each other in the regional phase, which will be held in person in Mexico City, within the framework of the Alacero Summit 2026.
