The region’s leading steel value chain event will take place at the Camino Real Polanco Hotel in Mexico City.
On November 10 and 11, Mexico City will host a new edition of the Alacero Summit, the leading gathering of the steel value chain in Latin America. More than 700 high-level executives, business leaders, specialists, and industry leaders will come together to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the sector amid profound economic and geopolitical transformation.
This year’s Alacero Summit will take place against a backdrop of growing competition for industrial leadership, the reconfiguration of global value chains, and the emergence of new manufacturing development strategies that are reshaping the international economic landscape.
“The expansion of manufacturing capacity in Asia, the growing use of industrial policy tools, and the reorganization of global value chains are redefining the competitive landscape for Latin American industries. Understanding these dynamics, analyzing their impact on the region, and discussing how to respond to them is now a priority for the sector,” said Ezequiel Tavernelli, Executive Director of Alacero.
Among the main items on the agenda are the implications of the new global order for the industry, trade tensions stemming from production overcapacity and subsidy policies, as well as the impact of China’s and Southeast Asian countries’ expansion into higher-value-added manufacturing sectors.
The meeting will also address the restructuring of North American manufacturing, the prospects of the USMCA (United States–Mexico–Canada Agreement), and the opportunities and challenges that nearshoring presents for Latin American countries. Concurrently, the meeting will analyze the responses that governments and companies in the region are developing to strengthen competitiveness, boost investment, and reduce structural gaps in the face of an increasingly demanding international environment.
Technological innovation will take center stage in the discussions. The digitization of industrial processes, automation, artificial intelligence, sustainability, and talent development will be among the factors analyzed as pillars for the industry’s future competitiveness.
In addition to the conference and panel program, the event will feature a trade show with more than 20 booths and spaces specially designed to promote networking and knowledge exchange among key industry players.
With more than six decades of history, the Alacero Summit has established itself as the leading forum for the steel industry in Latin America, bringing together each year those who lead the decisions that impact the region’s industrial development.
